Get Good Doggie Boarding

Finding good doggie boarding is well worth the effort. When you go out of town, you want to find a good place where you can board your dog without worrying about him while you are away. There are various doggie boarding facilities in the area where you live, but how do you know which is the best?

There are certain aspects to doggie boarding that you should consider before you decide to leave your dog in the care of a dog kennel. Your dog depends on you to get him the best care when you are away so you owe it to him to make sure that he not only receives good care, but is safe the entire time you are away.

Some things to look for when you are looking for doggie boarding include the following:

Space

You certainly don’t want to leave your dog all cooped up when you are away on vacation. Ask to see the inside of the doggie boarding kennel and the spaces where your dog will be held. Make sure that the dogs that are in the doggie boarding kennel have plenty of space to move around in their cages and seem content and well fed.

If you can manage to find a doggie boarding kennel that does not require caging but allows the dogs to roam freely, all the better. There are a few that allow free roaming for your dog. For the most part, however, doggie boarding kennels employ the use of cages to keep the dogs .

Care

When you visit the doggie boarding kennel, you will want to make sure the dogs who are being boarded are under the best care. How often are they fed and walked? You will want to make sure that the staff is caring and knowledgeable when it comes to your dog. If your dog was to get sick when he is being boarded, what will the staff at the doggie boarding kennel do? You will want to make sure that they are experienced and caring when it comes to your dog.

There should also be a vet close to the premises or one that is used by those who care for the animals. Some of the best doggie boarding will be that on the premises with a vet.

Reputation

The reputation of the doggie boarding kennel is important. Ask around and see what others feel about the kennel. You can ask your vet and other people who have dogs and board them. Most doggie boarding kennels get by on their reputation. If you do not know anyone with a dog, ask your vet to recommend a doggie boarding kennel. Vets often know the best kennels as they get first hand information from their customers with dogs.

Take space, care and reputation into primary consideration when you are looking for a good doggie boarding kennel. Instead of waiting until the last minute to find a boarding kennel for your dog, start looking around for good doggie boarding before the time comes when you actually need it.

Advocates fear bill will repeal ban on shooting dogs in commercial kennels

CORRECTION - I inadvertantly wrote that the bill had yet to pass through a Senate committee (I blame this on the fact I was writing in the wee hours and as is so often the case with animal welfare bills, they are usually only coming up before committees).
